Every holiday season, Derek collects blankets and personally hand delivers them to veterans on Christmas Day at the Long Beach Veterans Administration Community Living Center. Operation Warm Thanks - Honoring those who served.
On October 14th of 2019, while walking through Lakewood Mall, a young man was asked what he would like to do for Christmas Day. The young man promptly responded, "I want to give blankets to veterans who do not have anyone to spend the holidays with." While others plan holidays around family and friends, many of our Nations Heroes go forgotten. It is with this in mind that Derek Cota founder of Operation Warm Thanks, set forth on his mission to thank, honor and show the gratitude, they rightfully have earned. With every blanket donated, a Salute is rendered followed by a thank you for your service, a firm handshake, a blanket is then hand delivered to the Veteran and a set of eager ears ready to listen to the stories and forgotten history of the brave men and women of the United States Military.
